Philips 212 Electronic Turntable Classic

Very typical early 70ies Euro turntable with subchassis. Actually, not so typical. Both. On one hand we find the classic design which was wide spread in euro mainland with a not really filigree looking tonearm with oversized headshell, a platter with a stobe which was quite common and of course a almost cubic "in a box" design :-) Untypical was the electronic part. In 1972 it was uncommon in euro decks to find an electronic speed control, electronic pitch with a DC motor. Not talking about the sensor switches for speed selection and stop function. That was quite impressing at the time. Also an electronic spinning autostop at the end of the record. That was very avant garde indeed.

Today, still a nice looking and good sounding device. A high quality shielded RCA cable, a new belt has been installed as well as a new audio Technica cartridge. A nice machine for every day use. Some light wear but very good overall condition.
